Kurstin is one of my all-time favorite brides and throughout the entire wedding experience, we became wonderful friends. Kindred spirits, if you will. Obviously, Kurstin is the most delightful, gorgeous girl. The light & the wind just seem to follow her. Its a magical experience when she is in front of the lens. I remember telling my husband that after our bridal portrait session a few years back. BUT, as hard as it is to imagine, her outside beauty pales in comparison to the inside. This girl is solid gold. What makes her beautiful isn’t that she’s a model or that men driving by whistle out the car window when they catch a glimpse–it’s that her heart is pure. She is fiercely loyal to her family. She loves her puppy, Lola. She cares more about others than she does about herself and never once does she act entitled or deserving of anything more than anyone else. She spreads goodness wherever she goes and THAT is real beauty. You can see it in her eyes.
I’ve never been one to overly process images. Its not that I can’t or don’t know how or that I don’t have the right programs. I do. But, why would I spend time erasing the whispy hairs and wrinkles and quirks that make us who we are? Every little smile line…freckle from the sun…or pair of sad eyes, has been earned over time through experiences and living a substantial life that matters. It will never be my job to pretend otherwise.
I am thankful for clients & friends who get that.
